Open casting call FAQ
Fees, commission, privacy and how our in-person casting sessions work.
Submitting and casting sessions
Is the open casting call ongoing?
Yes. Submissions are always open. Online submission is the only entry point; there is no walk-in sign-up.
What happens after I submit?
Our team reviews every submission. Selected talent may be invited to an in-person casting session in the Nashville area, with details sent directly to invitees.
Do I need professional photos?
No. Clear, recent photos in natural light are fine. The form resizes them for you.
How do I remove my submission?
Use the removal request option on the submit page (or reply to any message from our team) and we'll delete your photos and details.
Fees, rights and legal
Do I have to pay anything?
Nothing out of pocket, ever. Applying and joining are free. The only fee is a one-time placement fee of 20% of your first booking's pay, capped at $75, taken from that pay after the booking is confirmed, and if the brand covers it, you pay nothing at all. No upfront fees, no photo or class fees, no ongoing commission. If you're dismissed without cause within 4 weeks, the fee is refunded.
How does the placement fee work?
It costs nothing to apply or join, and you never pay anything out of pocket. Open Call earns only when you're awarded a booking. After your first booking is confirmed, a one-time placement fee of 20% of that job's pay, capped at $75, comes out of that pay. Some brands cover the fee themselves, and then you pay nothing. There are no upfront fees and no ongoing commission, and after your first job you're free to sign with any agency. If you're dismissed without cause within 4 weeks, the fee is refunded.
Do I have to stay with Open Call?
No. We book your first job; after that you're free to sign with any agency. No exclusivity and no ongoing commission.
Will you send my photos to a bunch of companies?
No. We never mass-send, blast or sell your photos or details to lists of companies. Every submission is reviewed individually by a person. Your headshots and role details are shared only in response to a specific casting request your profile fits, and only with that client.
If you separately opt in to our talent directory, vetted brands and agencies we've approved may also browse your stage name, ID, headshots and role details there. That's off unless you tick the box, and you can turn it off any time.
Do you share my personal information?
Open Call does not share your personal information. The only things we share with brands, agencies or casting partners are your headshots and the details relevant to a prospective role (such as market, look, age range, height, general location and skills), identified by your stage name and Open Call ID. We never share your real name, email, phone number, address, date of birth or any other personal details with brands or outside parties. We don't sell your information. If you're booked, any contact happens through Open Call, and your contact details go to a client only with your express permission for that specific booking.
Optional sex/gender and ethnicity/heritage information is used only as role-relevant casting criteria when a brief requires it, and is never shared together with your identity. Limited service providers (such as Cloudflare, which hosts this site and its database) process data only to run the site. We may disclose information if required by law. If you're not selected, we delete your submission after 12 months, or sooner if you ask.
What is the talent directory?
An optional, private directory shown only to vetted brands and agencies. You're included only if you tick the directory box and our team approves. It shows your stage name and Open Call ID, never your legal name, email or phone. Opt out anytime.
Do you take minors?
No. Submitters must confirm they're 18 or older. Under-18 submissions are deleted.
Will you place me before I sign?
No. We don't place anyone without a signed written agreement, and we recommend independent legal review before you sign.
Is a booking guaranteed?
No. Submitting doesn't guarantee a booking, auditions or work. We may decline any submission without giving a reason.
Are you my employer?
No. We act as an intermediary between talent and clients and aren't the employer of record unless stated in writing.
Are you licensed or union-franchised?
No. Open Call is not a licensed or union-franchised talent agency, and we don't book work in states that require a license (such as California or New York) unless properly licensed there.
